Deep Cleaning
A deep cleaning may be recommended after your hygienist or dentist evaluates your gums and overall periodontal health. This treatment—also known as non‑surgical scaling and root planing—is designed to stop the progression of gum disease by thoroughly removing plaque, tartar, and bacteria from beneath the gumline. By cleaning these deeper areas, we help protect the gums, bone, and ligaments that keep your teeth stable.
To ensure a comfortable experience, local anesthetic is often used, and the procedure is typically completed over two appointments. In certain cases, localized antibiotic therapy is added to support healing and reduce periodontal pocket depth.
A few weeks after your deep cleaning, we schedule a periodontal re‑evaluation to measure how your gums have responded, reinforce personalized home‑care techniques, and outline the best maintenance plan to keep your gums healthy long‑term. This follow‑up is an essential part of preventing future inflammation, bone loss, and progression of periodontal disease.
